Environmental News: UK's largest DIY chain stop selling patio heaters

The UK's largest DIY chain has announced it is to phase out patio heaters once its seasonal stock of patio heaters runs out in 2008.
B&Q, the largest seller of patio heaters in the UK, has 20,000 heaters in its stores and it will not restock them after the last one is sold.
Ian Cheshire, B&Q’s chief exec, said: ‘A quarter of the UK's total carbon emissions come from the home and as the largest home improvement retailer in the country we are uniquely placed to help customers make a real difference.’
The decision follows Wyevale’s decision to stop selling patio heaters and the Energy Saving Trust's request for other retailers to do the same.
