Tories change green tax plans


The final report from the Quality of Life Group, chaired by Zac Goldsmith and John Gummer, is presented to Tory leader David Cameron today.

Following a backlash against green taxes encountered during consultation with voters the report will back away from proposals to increase the cost of international air travel. Domestic flights and airports will instead bear the brunt of economic sanctions.

The party leadership has also won a battle to equivocate on the issue of nuclear power in the final draft of the report.
